BOTHERATION

Seventeen-year-old Matty is soaring above the surface of Earth’s Moon. As he flies over the dark side, a flash of light from below distracts him and causes him to stare below. In one of the many Mares, Matty spots that the light emanates from a peculiar-looking structure. A structure on the Moon! Who could have built it? It reminds me of the structure of a building I discovered underground in Utah beneath the Dinosaur National Monument. The resemblance is uncanny, as if they were built by the same hands. As far as I can see, this one had no windows also; however, this one has a strange logo engraved on it. It is a hieroglyphics-like language. What does it mean? As I descend, I see a gigantic antenna device and a curious-looking reflecting mirror sticking out from the top of the building. These are not just random objects, they seem to serve a purpose, but what could it be? An unexpected disturbance knocks me inadvertently into it, causing the mirror, which had been delicately balanced on a steering device, to crash into the antenna assembly! Now this is a horrible, but silent explosion. Even though there is no sound here, I watch as this mysterious building crumbles in front of me. What did I do? “How horrible! I wonder how ancient this alien building was that I destroyed?” As the dust slowly returns to the surface, it reveals an opening. As I peer into the opening, I begin to discern vast underground structures extending down miles. Was this human or alien origin? I begin to shake. “I wish Gabriel were here to witness this.” But as continue to stare, my thoughts pattern mid-stride, I am overwhelmed as I view deeper. Two giant oblong orbs are peeking out to one side of this opening. “Somehow, these objects look strangely familiar? Where have I seen them before?” I fly into the abyss to get a closer view of the orbs, but as I try to land on one of them, I become aware of a cloudy line of tennis ball-sized numbered colored spheres heading toward me from both sides of the orb. However, I make no move to avoid them. The first one to hit me was Black. “Ouch!” Then, a Blue sphere hit me. “Hey, what’s going on? Stop it!” Then, an Orange sphere hit me. I stood resolute with my hands up, protecting my face, but the onslaught continued. A purple followed a green sphere; a green and white sphere quickly joined a maroon and white sphere. They pelt into me as if they were meant for me. “I feel strange, but I need to hang on. This reminds me of elementary school images of electrons.” Finally, another Purple sphere hits me. I began to fall deeper into the abyss, but no more spheres appeared, and I began to feel the effects of the onslaught. “Glad it’s over,” I muttered. In the distance, I see a figure. It doesn’t get any closer. As I squint to see, Rebecca is looking back at me. At this point, I blacked out.
