THE SWISS EFFECT

With all of the Swiss connections that Blackrock and Larry Fink have, it would only make sense that there is a direct connection to the 17 SDGs. I found an interesting article by bbva.com that talks about Blackrock CEO Larry Fink’s stance on the 17 SDGs. “Larry Fink, CEO of Blackrock, warns that his asset management company (the world’s largest) will take action against investee companies that do not consider sustainability. We will be increasingly disposed to vote against management and board directors when companies are not making sufficient progress.” To me, this statement says a lot that we need to consider. The largest investment firm will not do business with companies that are not on board with the SDGs. With the amount of assets that Blackrock controls, it would be extremely difficult for an anti-SDG company to get any financial backing without the approval of Blackrock. Blackrock is also invested in China heavily, so if they don’t have a problem with Chinese companies, that are in a nation that murders and tortures Muslims, they shouldn’t have a problem working with anti-SDGs organizations. This is not the case however, as we can see how Fink thinks anti-SDG companies are a greater threat than Communist China. It makes you think a bit. Fink released a statement for his annual letter that states; “The evidence on climate risk is compelling investors to reassess core assumptions about modern finance, recognizing that is has become a defining factor in companies’ long-term prospects. All governments, companies and shareholders must take climate change into account.” This is a lot of blah blah to me, however, Fink goes on to say; “Research from a wide range of organizations- including the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Blackrock Investment Institute, and many others, including new studies from McKinsey on the socioeconomic implications of physical climate risk- is deepening our understanding of how climate risk will impact both our physical world and the global system that finances economic growth.” This statement is a bit more revealing as you can have the scientific outcome you want when you are financing all of the organizations creating the report. I would definitely have an agenda if it were my company and I had this giant elaborate global power takeover. The thought of having a “global system” is just not attractive to me. I don’t like the idea of corporations and foreign leaders having a say in how the American economic growth will be dictated. After all, what other country is better than the US in generating a positive economy? To trust a European or someone from China to create our economic system is not going to be beneficial to any American.
