The Adventures of Annie and the letter "U" Today was a story day at school. This story was about a unicorn named Ursula. Ursula the unicorn lived under an upas tree in Uganda. Ursula liked to play with other unicorns in her village. There were zebras there too. The zebras were umpires in the unique game they played called u-ball. One day a pony named Uriah came to the field to play with the unicorns. He looked so unusual, without a horn like the unicorns, or without stripes like the zebras. Everyone was laughing at the way Uriah looked. Then Ursula stepped up and said "That is not nice. Maybe it is the unicorn that is unusual because we have horns. Or the zebra is unusual because they have stripes, and the pony is the normal one!" They all thought about it and decided differences were a good thing and they were glad everyone was not the same. They invited Uriah and his friends to come up to the field and play u-ball anytime! Annie told Mrs. King that she loved the unique story about the unicorn named Ursula!

About the Book
Annies adventures were written during the covid isolation period. Julia was not able to visit her great niece in person so decided to write and mail letters once a week telling a story about a girl named Annie. Each week featured a different letter of the alphabet tied into Annies adventures. The adventures include story days at school, birthdays, vacations and even dreams!
About the Author
Julia and her husband have lived in Maple Valley, WA for almost 40 years. She loves to travel, garden and spend time with family. Julia worked 44 years at a hotel in Seattle and retired early during the covid era. She spent the next year gardening and writing stories, about a girl named Annie, to send to her great niece. She had no aspirations to write a book, but her family encouraged her to publish her stories about Annie to share with all.
