About the Book

This book got started as a handmade present to a little girl who was a friend of my son’s. She really enjoyed working in her family’s garden and was fascinated by the earthworms which were in plentiful supply there. This book examines the seasonal changes in an earthworm’s life, with references to how earthworms improve the soil. Using a poetry format lightens up the narrative and makes it more fun, creating a rhythm that children enjoy. There are also many places in the book that could stimulate discussions about nature and create a love of the outdoors.

About the Author

Marie is a former biology teacher and retired nurse, mother of 2, and creator of handmade books, clothing, quilts, and jewelry. She found inspiration for her books from her experiences with nature in upstate NY when her children were young. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Ted.
