About the Book

This children’s book is a true story about a little Yorkie, Louie, and what happened after he was lost in the woods for one week while his family was on vacation in Florida. This story is written as a poem and illustrated by the author’s teenage granddaughter. It is a great story about the family who would not give up searching for their puppy and the friends, family, and strangers who helped in the search for this five-pound dog. This book is excellent for young toddlers and kids alike. Even adults will love the story of faith, tenacity, and the love of a pet.

About the Author

About the Author: Kim Reitter and her husband, Chuck, experienced a lot of fear and despair after Louie ran away from his caretaker’s home while they were vacationing with their family 1,100 miles away. With five grandchildren, Kim always loves reading books to them and especially loves books that rhyme. After Louie’s ordeal, she thought his story would make a good children’s book. After retiring, Kim finally had the time to sit down and draft the poem into a story. She and Chuck live in St. Louis, Missouri, with Louie. About the Illustrator: Because Tessa Buck is the same age as Louie, she always asked her grandma Kim to tell her the story about the time that Louie was lost in the woods. Tessa has loved to draw since she was a little girl, and after her grandma wrote Louie’s story, she was excited to help her by drawing the pictures for Searching for Louie. In addition to drawing, Tessa has a pony named Penny, and she loves riding horses and competing in horse shows. She lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her mom and dad, her brother, Jack; sister, Olive; dog, Henry; and cats, Holly and Harry.
