About the Book
A psychotic killer hides in plain sight, leaving behind a trail of bodies—each murder more grotesque than the last. As Detective Lynn Gutierrez hunts for answers, the evidence points to a killer with a personal vendetta, striking with terrifying precision. But this is no ordinary criminal. Every move is calculated, every victim chosen with purpose. As Detective Gutierrez unravels the truth, she realizes the killer is closer than she ever imagined. Locked in a deadly game of cat and mouse, the line between predator and prey blurs, forcing Gutierrez to question everything she thought she knew about justice—and herself. With time running out and the killer always one step ahead, she must confront a chilling reality: the most dangerous distortions aren’t just in the mind of the murderer—but in her own relentless pursuit of the truth. Cognitive Distortion is a gripping psychological thriller that plunges readers into a world of obsession, betrayal, and the devastating cost of vengeance.
About the Author
William E. Whitehead III was born on April 4, 1984, on the South Side of Chicago, in the historic neighborhood of Bronzeville. Raised by his single mother, Linda Bland-Wesley, and his grandparents, James and Idella Little, William witnessed firsthand the challenges and triumphs of those who were able to persevere despite their circumstances. His mother and grandparents worked tirelessly to provide for him, instilling a strong work ethic and a determination to succeed. Throughout his life, William developed a unique blend of book smarts, street smarts, and common sense—qualities that would serve him well throughout his life. He attended De La Salle Institute in Chicago, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society, graduating in 2001. During his high school years, he was a well-rounded student, participating in football and the Lasallian Youth program—a Catholic charitable organization focused on giving back to the community. After high school, William initially pursued his higher education at Kentucky State University before falling on hard times and transferring back home to complete his studies at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. There, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, graduating cum laude. He then continued his academic journey at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA). A devoted father, William takes great pride in his children: Preston (21), Morgan (20), Micaiah (19), Trinity (17), and Nisa (3). Balancing his personal and professional life, he has cultivated a passion for writing, producing, and recording inspirational music to uplift those who are struggling. He also finds solace in drawing and painting landscapes, using these creative outlets as therapeutic tools for relaxation. Currently, William is working on his second fiction novel, as he continues to explore his talent for storytelling. His commitment to personal growth and community involvement is further exemplified through his affiliation with Prince Hall Freemasonry as a member of Golden Gate Lodge #43. In 2024, he achieved a significant milestone by receiving his 32nd Degree in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliate, Northern Jurisdiction. William’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, education, and creativity in overcoming obstacles. His life experiences, combined with his dedication to his family and community, continue to shape his path as he pursues his passions and leaves a lasting impact on those around him.
