Dating today can feel like wandering in the desert, with little hope of reaching the promised land. However, a serendipitous dimension I discovered one day helped me achieve—or at least understand—how to fulfill my dating's soul. While spirituality and dating may seem unrelated, this fresh perspective shines a new light on this underappreciated rite of passage. Proverbs 3:17's “ways of pleasantness” suggests a direction for our journey. One day, while I was gazing at the image of the Tree of Life that had been posted on my refrigerator for the longest time, and which I looked at occasionally, I was contemplating a relationship problem. Suddenly, I noticed a connection between the names of the ten energy areas (Sephirot) and my experiences. The first to pop out was Eternity, and naturally, my goal was a good Eternity, not a bad one! The next Sephirah was Foundations, linked to the Sacral Chakra pelvic area I was familiar with from yoga—definitely a biggie! At the base of the Tree of Life, sharing Goals described the shalom bayit, or, peaceful home, that was to become my destiny.
