Have you ever been denied a promotion on your job? Falsely accused of wrongdoings to clear the real perpetrators, or have known people who were related to the supervisor or CEO of a company? Who had the connections of family and politics and the protection from the same group? Now imagine you are employed into the prison or corrections arena- August 1986. Now imagine that you are a black male that endured this system for 26 years. In the system I was rewarded by losing my family through divorce, stripped of my job/ career but not my dignity after believing it was a true merit system based on productivity, ability to lead employees ethically. This all changed on Sept 27,1997. It was a rainy night in SouthWest GA, celebrating my Birthday. Corrections, Protections, and Connections was front and center after the infamous escape of 2 convicted felons. The pain and betrayal was turned into depression, gratification by remembering what my father had taught and instilled in me in a segregated Middle Ga as a young black male.This short easy read you will learn no one is immune or covered when co-workers are protected and connected in any job or business. We are merely a pawn and record to protect their own or their own selves.
