Tippy, Dog Gone Detective

Tippy had long had big ambitions to become a dog detective. His biggest problem was himself! He was only 8 inches tall, and it seriously hampered him and made things difficult in so many ways. But the situation he found himself in made him all the more determined. A 3-month-old Golden Retriever had disappeared from home and been gone for over 2 days. “Rusty’s” owner was beyond terrified, thinking about his little puppy being lost, afraid, or even hurt. He wanted Tippy to find the puppy and bring him home. His friend Hank was good size, but clumsy and awkward, and more likely to get in the way than be of any help. Nonetheless, he had a heart of gold and the two of them were best friends.
The next morning the two dogs hurried toward the house where the lost puppy was last seen. As they walked through the neighborhood, they passed all kinds of people, young and old, out for a Sunday stroll. Everyone seemed to smile when Tippy and Hank passed by. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, the sun was shining, and a gentle breeze brought great smells to both dogs.
But their attention suddenly changed when they both felt something very different. The sidewalk seemed to be vibrating under their feet. It wasn’t a major upheaval, just an off-and-on jittery shaking in their path. The dogs surveyed the area, looking in every direction. The people all around them didn’t seem to notice anything at all! They all walked along leisurely, strolling past the stores and restaurants like nothing was out of the normal. Obviously, the humans couldn’t feel it! But the dogs knew something was wrong - something very strange and ominous.
