“Shame,” Ross said. I moved away from him, pushing my power past me and setting the dark room ablaze with deep, red light, igniting fear in every set of eyes that watched me draw near. A napkin resting on a woman’s lap caught my attention. With a motion of my hand, my power traveled up her chair then ignited the napkin with dark red flames. She screamed, brushing it off of her lap and stumbling away from her chair. Pushing a wicked smile onto my face, I redirected her back to her seat with my power, the woman wincing when its heat nipped at her skin. This was a performance, and it would be my best one yet. Twirling my power, I leaned over her chair. “Who should I start with first?” Red energy snaked over the table, bouncing over the plates and foods, singeing any that I chose. Anything to grab attention so I wouldn’t have to follow through with my threat. I found the wide eyes of a younger man nearly trembling in his seat. “You?” I asked, slowly making my way towards him, my power doing the same. “Stop!” I paused a few steps away from him, almost sighing with relief as I turned towards the male voice behind me. Zevin’s voice. His forehead glistened with sweat. “It was me. It was all my idea.”

From a young age, Michaela Love found joy in crafting short, thrilling stories while growing up in Pennsylvania. It wasn’t until high school that one of those stories blossomed into her first novel. Now residing in California, she continues to nurture her passion for writing while exploring new interests, embracing new experiences, and creating cherished memories with her parents and two brothers.
