About the Book
This book allows the readers to take a close glimpse of my life journey. As you read this book, you will understand why it was pivotal finding forgiveness for others and most importantly, finding forgiveness for self. The book is a reflection of events and occurrences that took place during my pre-teen years and followed through to my adult years. This book is depicted from real life events of sexual, psychological and physical abuse endured during my journey. This book allows the readers to follow my intense journey of survival as a teen and the many issues that I faced as being an abandoned child. In this book you will understand why stopping the cycle of violence is so important to me and why it was important for me to teach my daughters a different way of life. It was also very important for me to bring awareness to mental health because it was only when I learned emotional regulation, the need not to overthink everything and becoming self-aware was when my healing really started which played a huge part of my healing process and could have only happened due to undergoing mental health treatment from both my psychiatrist and my therapist. This book is for anyone who have been abused and neglected as a child and continued to rise above adversities. This book is unique as share parts of myself in many areas of my life from my personal relationships and dysfunctional family dynamics. This book addresses mental health and substance use illnesses to bring awareness and of necessary insights of both fields. It highlighted the correlation between trauma and mental health illness.
About the Author
I am 48 years old divorced woman who migrated from Haiti as a young child. I am a mother to two wonderful daughters who currently live with me in the state of Florida where I grew up most of my life. I have earned a master’s degree from Everest University and after graduating from the University, I had my first Job in the field of mental health and substance use disorders where I instantly fell in love with my many clients because they were so relatable and I was able to find bits and pieces of myself in everyone. While working my first job in behavioral health treatment care, I soon learned that my story was impactful to the many clients who I had served while guiding them through their most vulnerable state was really life changing not only for my client but for me as I found my life calling and purpose. Because this cause is so close to my heart, I would like to donate part of this book proceeds to mental health awareness causes.
