The truck stop wasn't a high end, Flying-J or a Pilot where truckers could get a bite to eat and a shower. It was an older truck stop with basic sundries, as well as a few items you could microwave for a quick snack. There was a bench to the right of the door where the truckers would smoke, and a dimly lit parking area for 18 wheelers. Kate went into the store to get help, still scared, apprehensive, and still sobbing. The cashier who came from India took one look at her and in his broken English said, "You leave! We don't want any trouble!" Kate tried to explain but the cashier wanted nothing of it. "No, no! You leave now!" Kate hung her head, turned and headed back out the door. She was muttering to herself, "What am I going to do?" when a huge trucker came up to her and asked if he could help. Kate looked up at the man and said, "I just want to go home!" "Where's home little lady?" My home is in Tennessee." The trucker said, "I'm taking a load to Arkansas. You could ride with me if you would like." Kate wasn't sure, but she was running out of options. The trucker said, "Look, I don't usually pick up hitchhikers, but you look harmless and in need of help." Kate's overwhelming urge to return home outweighed her skepticism and she agreed.
The trucker said, "My name is Bob, and my truck is the gray one just over there. It's the one between the red semi and the other gray one." As Kate walked with Bob toward the parked trucks, she didn't notice the large Hummer pull into the parking lot. As they got closer to Bob's semi he said, "I'll let you in on the passengers side." As they got closer to the cab, Bob grabbed Kate by the arm and clasped his other hand over her mouth. She tried screaming and twisting but Bob outweighed her by 200 pounds. He leaned closer to her and quietly said, "you make one more sound, and I'll slit your throat!" At the back of the truck Bob threw Kate to the ground, grabbed the neckline of her gingham dress and with one tug ripped the dress down the middle exposing her bra. He took out a knife as Kate was whimpering and pleading, "Please don't do this! Please, just let me go." Bob let out a sinister laugh and slowly cut thru Kate's bra. Kate immediately covered breast and before Bob could remove them, he heard a voice behind them. When Kai had pulled into the parking space in front of the store, he noticed out of the corner of his eye, a huge trucker leading a much younger girl toward his truck. There was just something off about this scene, so he decided to take a closer look. "I can't be entirely sure, but I don't think the lady wants to play your silly game!" AS Bob stood and turned to confront the voice behind him, there was Kai, all 6'5" of him. Bob wasn't worried. He was 6'7" and weighed 310 pounds and was holding a knife. Bob looked Kai over and with a snicker in his voice said, "I think you should buzz off if you know what's good for you!" "Yeah, that's not happening!" "I'm glad you said that, cause I live for this shit!" With a stoic expression on his face Kai said, "Think twice, because dying ain't living!" This infuriated the trucker, and in an instant, with the knife held high in his right hand, he exploded toward Kai. Kai using an upper forearm block stopped Bob's knife attack midair. At the same time, Kai with the full force of his 265-pound frame delivered a knife hand strike to Bob's neck between the 4th and 5th cervicle vertebrae. Bob's neck broke in an instant and his body slumped to the ground. Taking off his light jacket, Kai turned to Kate and said, "Here cover yourself with this." He bent down and handed the jacket to Kate and slowly helped her to her feet. As Kate stood there shacking and sobbing, she muttered, "Is, is he dead?" Well Kai replied, "Just let me say, he's seen better days!"
