The search for the origin of everything starts with human curiosity, not just the Big Bang theory. Fueled by human curiosity, ancient myths and modern science have long sought to understand the universe's cause and effect. This curiosity is also the driving force behind humanity's quest for understanding, forming the bedrock of science, with religion and evolution emerging as its outcomes. The diverse interpretations of scientists, some favoring creation and others supporting evolution, are a testament to the power of curiosity. It is this very curiosity that leads scientists to explain the evolution of the universe and life, giving rise to atheism, while religion tells the story of creation. Without our curiosity about the origins and purposes of everything, these fields would not exist as we know them today. To solve the mystery of origins, scientists must discover the roots of curiosity and why they study the natural world for answers. The scriptures support the assumption that God instilled this desire in humanity. God made everything timely and suitable. He created humanity to govern the earth and its creatures, and placed eternity in their hearts, yet His works remain beyond our full understanding. Genesis 1:26-28; Ecclesiastes 3:11; 8:17. Discovering God's works is an active process that starts with asking 'how' and 'why.' Scripture encourages us to ask creation, as in Job 12:7-10. As children ask, 'How did we get here?' scientists apply the same question when studying the natural world. Solmon, known for his wisdom, applied his mind to seek and explore through wisdom all that was done under the heavens. God has given people this miserable task to keep them occupied, Ecclesiastes 1:13 Discovering the origin of everything begins with the desire to discover every work done under the heavens, Ecclesiastes 1:13

Throughout history, humanity has endeavored to understand the origins of life, a pursuit often referred to as the “Universal Question.” From an early age, children ask their parents, “How did we get here?” This question is not limited to the context of human existence but also encompasses the origin of life. It is not just a single inquiry but a three-part exploration. It begins with our natural birth, extends to the birth of our parents, grandparents, and ancestors, and ultimately leads to questioning the origin of life. This complex question serves as the gateway to our journey of uncovering knowledge of everything under the sun. Similarly, scientists apply the same question while studying the natural world and the beginning of everything, seeking not only to unravel the beginnings of humankind but also to probe the genesis and significance of all that exists, starting with the very cosmos itself. Like orphans searching for their biological roots, we turn to science, religion, and philosophy for answers, unaware that these fields are also driven by the “Universal Question,” a curiosity. Curiosity is the “cause,” science is the “effect,” and religion, atheism, and philosophies about life are the results.
About the Author
Vernell Moss served as a Sunday school kindergarten teacher at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas. Inspired by his daughter’s question about why the sun isn’t visible at night, he wrote his first children’s book, “Daddy Why,” explaining the creation story. After retiring, Moss became an author.
