Truhawk’s serenity was abruptly ended with the buzzing of his cell phone. It was Agent Savage calling from the Empire City Police Department. The call he has been waiting for. Truhawk quickly answered his cell.
“Yes, Rachel, is everything okay?”
“Everything’s fine Boss, Marc and I are here with Lieutenant Banks. He’s filling us in on everything he has on a young unidentified teenage girl, who is being detained at the Empire City Hospital. Lieutenant Banks tells us that his patrol officers responded to a radio call, “unknown trouble.” When patrol officers arrived on scene, they were approached by a citizen who informed them that she had taken in a young teenage girl she had observed walking aimlessly around the neighborhood. The citizen caller told officers she did not recognize the young girl. The young girl was incoherent and in her current condition and appearance, the citizen caller thought she was in some kind of trouble, so she called the police. The patrol officers thanked the citizen and took custody of the young girl. Officers observed that the young girl appeared to be suffering from some type of trauma; there was dried blood in her hair and on the side of her face, her clothes were dirty and completely disheveled. Officers tried to speak to her, but she was unresponsive; she would not or could not speak, she just had a blank look in her eyes. The lieutenant said, the patrol officers notified him of the situation, and advise him that they were transporting a Jane Doe subject to the hospital. Lieutenant Banks met his patrol officers at the hospital, where they reported to him the outcome of the radio call.”
“The Jane Doe subject is being detained for her own safety. Hospital doctors advised Lieutenant Banks that the young girl should remain in the hospital for a few days for medical treatment and mental observation as he continues his investigation into Jane Doe’s identity. She has been admitted to the Empire City Hospital under a Jane Doe.”
“That’s where we are right now Boss,” Rachel said, “Marc is in Lieutenant Banks office going over the patrol officers’ reports with Lieutenant Banks. I’ll have Marc report in later.”
“Lieutenant Banks says he has two teenage daughters, so he has taken a personal interest in this case. He really wants to know how this whole thing happened. He has asked to be kept in the loop in this case.”
“Lieutenant Banks will be driving us to the Empire City Hospital shortly to meet with their Jane Doe subject. From the description of their Jane Doe, I am sure she is going to be Nicole Landon; the missing teenage girl in the Cider Hills Police Department’s missing person report. But from what I have learned, I’m not sure what mental condition this young girl is going to be in when we meet with her.”
“Thanks for the update, Rachel” Truhawk said. “For your information, the girls’ vehicle was found in the Cider Hills Mall parking lot, they said the vehicle had been there for a few days.”
“It appears whatever transpired with the missing girls, began at the Cider Hills Mall. Ward and Jason are at the Cider Hills Mall as we speak, assisting with the interviews of mall employees and security personnel.”
“Rachel, when you get to the hospital will you take a photo of Jane Doe and send it over to Ward?”
“Will do Boss, I will get back to you, ASAP.”
Putting on his coat, Lieutenant Banks said, “are you ready to go detectives?” As he prepared to walk out of his office; “I’ve spoken to the hospital staff; they have arranged a private room for us to meet with our Jane Doe. We can be at the hospital in thirty minutes. Let’s saddle up. I’ll drive,” Lieutenant Banks said.
When Lieutenant Banks, Detective Porter and Agent Savage arrived at the Empire City Hospital, they entered the hospital lobby and were met by Dr. David Wittmann, Head of the psychiatric ward at the hospital. Lieutenant Banks introduced Savage and Porter as investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Dr. Wittmann invited Lieutenant Banks and the Detectives to his office before they met with Jane Doe. He asked everyone to have a seat. There were a few things he wanted to go over regarding Jane Doe’s physical and mental condition. The office was quiet waiting for Dr. Wittmann to speak.
“Your instincts were correct Lieutenant Banks,” Dr. Wittmann said. “Jane Doe was treated by our emergency room doctors and nurses for cuts and bruises on her face and body, dehydration, and trauma. A medical examination revealed that Jane Doe was possibly the victim of a very brutal sexual assault/rape. Further examination for venereal disease was also conducted. We still have no idea who she is. Physically she appears to be okay, psychologically there seems to be some problems.”
“What do you mean possible victim of sexual assault/rape Dr. Wittmann?” Lieutenant Banks asked.
“The problem Lieutenant Banks is that this young girl (Jane Doe), at this time, is not able to give us a statement or information about what happened to her, where it happened, or who’s involved. As a medical professional, we cannot draw conclusions whether the victim was assaulted or raped in our report, that’s for the courts to decide. That’s why we use the word possible Lieutenant.”
“What we discovered during Jane Doe’s physical examination was evidence that’s commonly found in most rape cases; bruises, cuts, scratches, vaginal tearing, torn clothing; semen and bloodstains, and evidence of a struggle. This was all there during her medical examination and then some! There was also evidence of forcible anal penetration and oral copulation. Physical evidence also revealed that Jane Doe put up a hell of a fight. A detailed report of Jane Doe’s medical examination and sexual assault kit is available for you.”
