This delightful rhyming picture book is the second in the Sofia series, designed to inspire and encourage children to leap for their dreams. At the end of the story, readers can explore “What We Learned in Class,” a fun and educational review of ballet terms and steps from level 2. And readers are invited to search for Sofia’s special star, a hidden symbol of hope and determination for all rising stars.

About the Author

Sara DeGennaro is an award-winning author, dancer, and teacher. She was introduced to ballet at age three and was accepted into the prestigious School of American Ballet at eight, where she earned the privilege to perform with its renowned affiliate, New York City Ballet. She also trained internationally with the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen. She has owned and directed a classical dance school on Long Island for over 30 years, inspiring young dancers through both teaching and her children’s books, with her first published in 2022. Sofia’s First Ballet Class: Ballet is Fun! won the 2025 International Impact Book Awards in Performing Arts.
