About the Author
Marilyn Schlitz is an award-winning author, charismatic public speaker, pioneering researcher, and leading voice in the emerging fields of consciousness studies and mind-body health. Marilyn received her PhD in social anthropology at the University of Texas, Austin, and was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in social psychology at Stanford University. She served as president and CEO at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS). She’s the founder of Worldview Enterprises, where she creates cultural media and education programs on consciousness, healing, and worldview transformation. A prolific writer, Marilyn has published hundreds of articles in peer-reviewed journals and popular magazines, including former columns in Spirituality and Health Magazine, The Noetic Review, and Shift magazine. She serves on the editorial boards of Explore and the Permanente Journal. Her books include Consciousness and Healing: Integral Approaches to Mind-Body Medicine (with Tina Amorok and Marc Micozzi) and Living Deeply: The Art and Science of Transformation in Everyday Life (with Cassandra Vieten and Tina Amorok). Her acclaimed documentary film (with Deepak Chopra) entitled Death Makes Life Possible film and Live Study, A Novel to bio serves as a companion to this book. Marilyn is presently a senior fellow at IONS, senior scientist at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, fellow of the Academy of Transdisciplinary Learning and Advanced Studies (ATLAS), and serves on the board of directors for Pacifica Graduate Institute. She lectures widely throughout the world and in various venues. Her scientific findings have been featured in the New York Times, Huffington Post, and on NPR, PBS, and elsewhere.
