True Gold Rush Tales

Onto a brightly lit stage the alluring 28 year old extraordinary entertainer arrived ready to perform. Lola burst forth sparsely clad in dancing shoes, tights, brightly colored layers of petticoats, underwear, and a matching top. Strewn about were piles of spiders scattered around the wide shiny floor. There were many jet-black rubber moving spiders which twitched as they slid dangerously close to the comely entertainer trying to flee them. Instantly the entire audience was riveted since it seemed certain that poor Lola would surely be devoured by invading arachnoids intent on consuming or at least inflicting damage. The act got fully underway with Lola singing to the orchestra’s music, a compelling combination of waltz, polka, jig, march, and mazurka tunes. The nimble dancer flew from left to right and back again across the entire stage as the audience roared and shouted its approval and even, for some, delight. Most of the crowd were lusty single men of all ages, incomes, backgrounds, and ethnicity. The few ladies present mostly sat in silence, making few, if any, remarks. Their reactions would come later; few had words of praise.
