My Pet Is Better Than Your Therapist shows how your pet is already supporting your mental and emotional well-being in ways you may not fully recognize. If you live with anxiety, ADHD, burnout, or the constant pressure to hold everything together, your pet is offering you a steady path back to balance—every single day. Blending simple neuroscience, nervous-system education, and heartfelt stories, licensed clinical social worker Jennifer Bronsnick introduces Pet Medicine: a gentle, practical framework for using everyday moments with your pet to return to calm and build emotional resilience. You’ll learn how animals naturally help regulate emotions, release tension, and reconnect you to the grounded, steady parts of yourself. Through clear explanations and accessible practices, you’ll discover how your pet can help you: • Shift from overwhelm into safety • Calm anxiety and quiet racing thoughts • Support neurodivergent needs with compassion • Build emotional resilience and self-trust • Deepen your bond through shared presence This book isn’t about turning your pet into something new. It’s about noticing the healing relationship that’s been there all along. Your pet doesn’t need theories or techniques. They offer something deeper: regulation, connection, and unconditional love. If you’ve ever felt soothed by a paw on your lap, a soft purr, or a steady, loving gaze, this book will help you understand why—and how to use those moments to support your mental and emotional well-being. My Pet Is Better Than Your Therapist is your guide to more calm, connection, and resilience—with the animal who already loves you through it all.
About the Author
Jennifer Bronsnick, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker, NYU alumna, and certified HeartMath trainer whose passion for healing has led her to integrate science, spirituality, and the wisdom of the human-animal bond into her work. For over 20 years, she has supported thousands of clients across diverse settings—including hospitals, schools, nursing homes, summer camps in low-income communities, and private practice. Her clinical career has given her a wide-angle view of the challenges people face and the creative ways healing can unfold. Jennifer also knows the terrain of anxiety, ADHD, and emotional dysregulation intimately—not only through her professional work, but through her own lived experience. She has navigated a seizure disorder, experienced panic attacks, and faced the grief of her parents’ divorce, the loss of close friends to suicide, and the ending of her marriage. Yet rather than breaking her, these experiences have refined her—deepening her compassion, strengthening her intuition, and forging her into a resilient and radically compassionate guide for others who find themselves in their own nights. The seed of Paws 4 Wellness was planted when she looked into dog Winnie’s eyes during the pandemic, when Jennifer realized: “My dog is better than a therapist.” That insight was later reinforced as she conducted more than 12,000 Emotional Support Animal evaluations, giving her a unique vantage point into how profoundly pets transform people struggling with mental health challenges. While she knows animals don’t replace professional therapy, she also understands that they offer something essential: accessibility, unconditional presence, and everyday companionship. Together, these experiences inspired the creation of Paws 4 Wellness—a platform, app, and movement devoted to the healing power of the human-animal bond. Blending clinical expertise, intuitive guidance, and integrative practices, Jennifer helps people reconnect with their nervous systems, rediscover their capacity for joy, and cultivate resilience—with animals lighting the way. When she isn’t holding space for others, you might find her in a personal growth workshop, dancing with a hula hoop, or enjoying time with her three daughters, pets, and soul family. As a modern-day Dakini, Jennifer honors the fierce, loving, and liberating energy of the feminine in all her work. Her mission isn’t only to help others heal—it’s to inspire people to experience life fully and be open to love in all its forms. You can learn more and join her movement at www.paws4wellness.com.
