About the Book

The Apennines are much more than the chain of mountains which form the interior spine of Italy, from the North all the way to its Southern tip. They contain the most pristine and wild areas of the peninsula, the areas where the first Italic civilization was born and developed, and where to this day the most authentic spirit of Italy still lives. This book is a trip along these Apennines, a trip in search of their origin, of the sense of the sacred that still endures, of towns that are often abandoned, of traditions, feasts and rites which have been continuously celebrated for three thousand years: a collection of stories and reportage held together by this long chain of mountains. It is a deep glimpse into the unknown heart of Italy!

About the Author

Gian Luca Diamanti is an author and essayist who specializes in public communication and has developed and curated projects involved in the repopulation of Italy’s interior. Since 2016 he writes and manages the website: www.appenniniweb.it

Marino D’Orazio, a native Italian, is a dual citizen of Italy and the United States. He holds a Ph.D in Comparative Literature and is a retired college professor and attorney. He has translated both fiction and non- fiction books from the Italian.
