Moments in Time as Origami Butterflies
Her eyes a garden of unwritten poetry under light
A sigh reaches across canyons of our desperate
Like a moment you’ve folded as origami butterflies
They travel through time in search of our lost souls.
Mine a collection of mysterious sublime daydreams
Both collide in a rain of wondering frenetic musings
Unmasked we fall out of sentient heartbeat rhythm
A glance begins a dance only a song we sing knows.
We weave them together as bodies find new designs
Our breath a glue holding our reimagined tapestries
As eons recall memories we've threaded inside them
Each one a road home when we lose sight of us.
The Unbearable Poetry of Silence
Wrapped your words within me to let them dance
Mesmerizing what's left just saying how you felt
When you're all alone find mine strewn onto today
If you ever look for me again, find me inside them.
Your eyes piano mine taking in everything we saw
As we walk away only your last look still sustains
When you've forgotten how we'd laugh and cry
Tell me again what I was when you were my poem.
Hours fall in love with days leaving me voiceless
As your glance surfaces only my mind sees you
If you find me again our photographs remind us
Play me your favorite song to make us real again?
Sudden light takes us onto a tide we’ve forever’ed
Decembering what’s left we drift into a new year
Empty eyes lose us as each frame of you lets me go
We soar through every door we left ajar in silence.
Measuring Our Fate
Your delicious Château d'Yquem all over my lips
Laughter measures us even when we're gone
Butterflies take me over haunting your words
Goodbyes encrypt us, rewriting what we've left.
Whispers steal my soul no one plays us like you
Nightfall forgets me remembering your taste
Muad'dib's desert tears fall as even mice drink
Walking like ghosts on ocean shores still dry.
Your touch finds us alive against a morning's wind
Held in hour-glassed prisons time measures fate
Stranger's minds beckon they pray for what's lost
Will you stay tonight to dream of them with me?
Each story you wield believes everyone we’ve met
Measures of who we are the music you make in me
Dancing eyes remember poetry’s lasting refrains
As if we've always known songs that make us now.
As today slips by now in the evening we anticipate
Will you think of my eyes as my light begins to fade?
Melancholy my true lover sings your name out to me
As past poems make us will my song still find yours?
Aphrodite's Gift of Anamnesis
Your poetry washes over us on waves only you surf
Chilling my memory as I decipher who we once were
We set our table together looking for us again tonight
Crushing our words as we relearn how to be together.
Night always finds poignancy alone when we touch
Kissing words goodnight wondering if we’ll stay
Astonished we tide time mating in our lonely moves
As you jet lag my words tasting yesterday's memoir.
I step onto your shore as apprehension licks my lips
You carry my eyes whispering your deeper intent
Footprinting our way we fall into discarded pasts
Delighted to find home as even stars hide above us.
You saunter into my mind as other images emerge
Provoking words rendering who I am with all of yours
Laughing we share universes as moments in a glance
Ancient newborn lovers baking with our inside jokes.
Starlit rain bathes memory as our rapt touch vibrant
Times we’ve never forgot walking under another sun
Your eyes share my light in days when we first met
Our empathetic bond still sharing what’s been real.
You remember laugher as we stepped through time
Our flashbacks clues we still contemplate now
Such is your delight as pieces cast find all of mine
As we puzzle us whole to find who we’ll become next.
Doppelgänger entanglements play seductive playlists
Eyes surfing waves as each one floods another kiss
Seasoned memories become sunburned laughter
Intoxicating like your look as you ask mine for a refill.
Consequences lamppost us like a poem we've joined
Sighs blanket our atmosphere moving in pieces of us
Like we always knew our gambit would still play true
Racing across our vast sighs as a last kiss farewells.

About the Book
Tides of Light is a poetry anthology that represents volume three of my Entangled Universes trilogy. The multi-universe is a quantum reach of spacetime that enables us to move through conscious thought, the atomic quantum realm, stone, plant, insect, animal, human, world, star, galaxy, and supercluster, as we search for who we will become.
The poetry in this collection is organized in chapters named after the various forms of light, as well as some lighting effects we also experience in our entangled universe, such as Aurora borealis, Bioluminescence, and Sprites, a light phenomenon that occurs in the upper atmosphere. I use them as metaphors for my various poems.
If a poem is the light, the poet is the lens and the reader, a mirror. Yet, some forms of light require a different kind of touch or perception, as the synthesis from each poet, reader, and poem can find a gestalt who's synergy becomes an unexpected emergence, as Aristotle described. I actually believe that this is why we keep writing and reading something new, because light always searches for the most conducive lens depending on what is needed within such mirrors.
The poetry all of us share is the love of ourselves when we meet each other; it’s the only testament that matters in a world where love means giving a part of us away and never expecting it to return. In the landscapes of such oceans we fathom depths that reside within us when the sun rises again.
About the Author
Verde Mar began writing enigmatic micro-poetry just as the global pandemic began in August, 2019. Born in Rhode Island, just off the Wampanoag Trail by the Narragansett Bay. Verde earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science at New Mexico State and began a career in developer software technical writing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Verde also designed and built a home by the ocean in Half Moon Bay, California.
Since 2019, Verde Mar has written 2500 poems, published Turbulent Waves, A Wave Without a Shore, and Tides of Light, which closes out Verde’s Entangled Universes trilogy, and a separate poetry anthology, titled, The Empathy of Rain.
An avid vinyl LP audiophile and science fiction connoisseur, Verde also loves to ski and allows golf to play it’s wonderful mind games. Verde now lives in Valle Verde just outside of Sedona, Arizona contemplating potential future poetry slams and the next literary tide of light, Gravity Waves.
