This book came about from a proposition, which turned into an experience, which evoked a title that seemed all too fitting for its topic. The relevance of “India” will become obvious as you read through the first of this collection of short essays, while the following series of “vignettes,” or small illustrations of motherhood, will elaborate on the theme. Motherhood itself, however, seems to fit the definition of “vignette.” It is this beautiful collection of small moments which are illustrations, or portraits, of a relationship without any border or finiteness. Our daily, often prosaic, experiences as mothers fade into the much bigger background of an enormous love and connection that is far greater than ourselves, or any single occurrence. Motherhood, itself, defies the concept that it exists at any one point in time. It is through all of its vignettes that the relationship between mothers and their children have meaning and are brought to life.

About the Author
Elena Schietinger is a well-known author of children’s books. Her prize-winning work is sold throughout the United States and internationally. Her books seek to inspire children and help them grow though tales of kindness, friendship, encouragement, and love. When not writing and raising her children, she enjoyed a career in law, serving as a judge for 25 years before founding her own firm. She resides in Long Island, New York, with her two dogs, her husband, and close to her three sons.
