About the Book
‘A Journey Back Through Time,” contains thirteen tales from the mind of Spencer Farmans, a lifelong Midwesterner from the city of Downers Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The book examines the true stories of people and places, which span a time from innocent childhood to the reality of old age. In “Ask Alice,” the book begins with the terrifying disappearance of a family housekeeper, and the stunning lesson of what is learned from where and how she is discovered. “Somewhere to Return” reveals an unknown event of the author’s father, and what the story seems to feel about the presence of truth or coincidence. The dilemma of holding to one’s dreams or selling out to the practical world of safe survival marks the compelling lessons in “Learning from a Legend,” A Diamond in the Ruff,” and “Somewhere to Return.” Also, much attention is paid to the importance of other human beings’ great influence as heroes or mentors upon the author’s search for meaning and the attempt to fulfill dreams.
