About the Book

A novella set in the 1970s and 80s which tells the story of a young woman and her desires. Work is what gives the daytime hours meaning, while love or the attempt to find it occupies the rest. In the end, the story suggests that the answer to the question, "What is it that I want?" is not found in the external world, but in who we are and who we choose to become.

About the Author

Thomas Filbin's short stories have appeared in The Boston Review, the new renaissance, and the William and Mary Review. His novel "The Black Amphora of Halicarnassus" was published in 2024. He has written for The New York Times Book Review, The Boston Sunday Globe, and The Hudson Review.
