About the Author
Genevieve Charles was born in 1956 on the vibrant island of Saint Lucia, a land shaped by history, resilience and the enduring spirit of its people. The fourth of five children, she was raised in a household where leadership was not merely spoken, it was lived. As the daughter of Saint Lucia’s first Chief Minister, she grew up in the presence of nation-building, where conversations of responsibility, service and sacrifice were woven into the fabric of daily life. From these beginnings, Genevieve inherited not only a name but a legacy, one that would quietly guide her steps across oceans and through seasons of transformation. In 1978, she left the familiar shores of Saint Lucia for Saint Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. There, she began shaping her own story—She married, became the devoted mother of two children and embraced the sacred responsibility of nurturing the next generation. Genevieve’s journey was never meant to remain still. In 1995, with a vision for her children’s future, she made a bold transition to the mainland United States. It was a decision of purpose—to create opportunity where none had yet been carved. In Louisiana, she spent over a decade building a career in sales and marketing within the furniture industry, mastering the art of connection, negotiation, and perseverance. In 2007, she once again answered the call of growth, relocating to Texas. There, she evolved her path, moving into the administrative and operational side of the industry. With quiet strength and consistent excellence, she rose to a managerial position, earning the respect of colleagues and establishing herself as a steady and capable leader. Today, Genevieve resides in Spring, Texas, where she embraces the fullness of her journey, surrounded by her children and five grandchildren. She stands as both matriarch and storyteller, a bridge between generations, carrying forward the values of her lineage with grace and intention.
