About the Book

About the Author

Melita Wade Thorpe, a native Mississippi writer, draws on her international travel experience. Thorpe grew up in Laurel, Mississippi, before moving to California, where she received a Master of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis. Thorpe, an amateur astronomer, owned and operated a tour operation that specialized in astronomy taking astronomers to see events in the sky. Returning to Jones County, Mississippi, in 2021, Thorpe published her first novel, Ransom Theft Love, in 2022. For Such a Time as This, 2023, is a prequel to the former and begins when Ellie is ten years old. Dark Shadows is set in her hometown of Santa Cruz, California.
