About the Book
“Dream of a Holy Woman” is Christian meditation inspired by Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, developed as a dream sequence of seven voices presented in seven dramatic monologues, with historical reference incorporated into poetic dramatization intended to suggest the spiritual sense of a saint most precious. e seven voices are presented speaking from the four directions of east, south, west, and north, and three more “directions” which may also be included in the archetypal orientation of our human being: earth and sky, and the sacred center, following a thematic pattern based on the traditional Native American directional prayers of petitions and blessings common to the sacred traditions of many tribes. Each voice provides an individual variant response to the person of St. Kateri, forming as a whole a composite portrait of this remarkable holy woman.
