Something moved. Putting out her hand, she eased forward, expecting any second to collide with one of the haphazardly positioned pillars. Then, she abruptly stopped. Someone sat in the dimness ahead, his back to her. For a moment, Diane felt an unreasoning fear. The turn of his back and the shoulders’ breadth reminded her of something frightening, just beyond her recall. Instinctively, she stuck a hand inside her pocket, feeling there the cool texture of a statuette. She turned to move away, but a voice said, “Come forward, priestess. You are already condemned to death for venturing this far.” The deep voice projected certainty and power. Diane took a step backward. Instantly, though, another will pushed her forward. A deep chuckle came from the figure. “The high priestess of Hathor uncertain? How very disappointing.” At that, something rose in her breast, and she strode forward. The figure turned, and to her surprise, she saw a tall, handsome man, with a long scar on his exposed shoulder. His eyes found hers, and Diane felt power in the man’s will. Whatever possessed her fought back, locking her eyes with Thutmoses’. He laughed and stepped down from the dais. “You have changed, priestess.”

About the Book
Dreams Over Luxor is set in ancient Egypt and St. Euribius. The story follows the mystery surrounding Diane McDonald, a psychiatrist, who is confronted with the case of a thirty-year-old woman who, after anesthesia, awakes with the memories of an eighty-year-old. More perplexing, this woman, a Somali, recounts events that had taken place in a St. Euribian village many years before. The mystery increases when Diane's husband and young daughter fall seriously ill, and her friend, the surgeon who had referred the woman to her, is murdered and dissected. All this appears to be in response to the stories the woman tells. Diane finds herself dragged into a mythological world where danger is everywhere. In this world, Diane strengthens, and as the real world disintegrates, she is forced to fight for her life and those she loves.
About the Author
Ronald A. Williams was born in Barbados and educated in the United States. As a result, his work engages both societies and the connections between them. His stories move seamlessly from sandy Caribbean beaches to corporate boardrooms, and they always involve intrigue, adventure and romance. This is Williams' eleventh novel. One of his prior novels, The Dark Land, won the Prime Minister's Prize and finished second in the Frank Collymore Literary Prize competition. A second novel, The Fall of Autumn Leaves, finished first in the Frank Collymore Literary Prize competition. Williams' novels are frequently set in the Caribbean, and he engages the social issues that people of that region confront. He has also written a series of science fiction novels that engage issues of humanity's evolution from planet Earth into the stars.
